Job Placement

I’ve had three retail jobs in my life so far and none of them can compare to the one I have now.  I’ve received more compliments at this one than the three jobs put together; and I’ve only been employed there for four months.

It’s a massive step up for me.  I really didn’t think such people in management existed until I began working there.  My previous jobs consisted of bogus individuals who acted like they were concerned at times.

At my new job, they don’t force you or “threaten” you to come in for your shift if you need to call out.
They don’t force you to stay if you aren’t feeling well; they let you go home without making a fuse about it.
If you are sick, they tell you to stay home and get better.
They ask you sincerely, “How are you feeling today”?

What a different world it is compared to my other jobs.

Also, the simplest things I do, I get a pat on the back for.   I’ve never received that kind of treatment before so it’s a bit odd to know a simple project did not get overlooked.

For example, I put together a toy chest this week and the manager was thrilled on how beautiful it came out.  It’s not like I carved the damn thing myself; I just followed a piece of paper and used the tools I needed, but it made her night.

How awesome is that?

I think it’s a blessing in disguise to have found this job.  I’m very happy there; not once have I woken up and dreaded going into work.  I truly enjoy my little toy store.
